There's a reason the Quest Jacket is back for another season: because it continues to deliver great value, and reliable rain and wind protection. This shell is made from lightweight, two-layer DryVent™ with taped seams and a water repellent finish. All this means you stay dry, protected from the wind and won't get too hot and sweaty in the process - ideal when hiking in shifting conditions. It features a fitted, adjustable hood and a cinch-cord hem and elasticated cuffs to keep bad weather out. A brushed-knit chin guard means the top of the zip won't become irritating and there are two zipped hand pockets.

HOW TO CARE
CLOSE ALL FASTENINGS

Before cleaning, turn your product inside out and close all Velcro® fastenings and zips to prevent accidental damage.

MACHINE WASH

Machine wash at 30°C or below with similar colours. To get the best performance out of your gear, wash it as often as necessary to remove impurities, such as sweat, dirt, campfire smoke and cooking odours.

RETREAT THE GARMENT

To prolong the life of your weatherproof gear, you’ll need to retreat the garment to replace the waterproof coating after a certain amount of washes. If you notice that water is not beading as well as it did when you first purchased the garment, it may be time to retreat it. You can replace the durable water-repellent coating (DWR) with a spray-on or wash-in product, following the instructions carefully.

Men's quest hooded jacket bought in blue

Love the jacket. Breaks the wind. Protects me from the rain.

Material thinner

Bought for my husband as he wanted a blue jacket. We both have several North Face same jackets over the years. The material on this blue jacket is extremely thin compared with previous jackets. Not sure i would buy a North Face again given the change in fabric used.

Enduring the Elements: A Long-Term Review of the Men's Quest

Having journeyed with me since 2017, my Men's Quest Hooded Jacket has largely been my reliable shield against the whims of weather, particularly during high winds. However, after six years of almost constant use, it's time to settle in and reassess the performance, durability, and overall value of this outdoor staple. Firstly, the lightweight nature of the jacket deserves applause. It's easy to forget you're wearing an additional layer, making outdoor adventures or casual strolls around town equally comfortable. This quality, compounded by its stellar design, offers commendable resistance against high winds, ensuring a cozy embrace in the breezy wrath of nature. However, durability is where the jacket begins to fray at the seams—quite literally. After years of service, I encountered the disheartening need to stitch up a tear, an unexpected turn of events considering its initial sturdy construct. Further dampening the experience is the disappointing evolution of its waterproof capabilities. The jacket, initially equipped with promising DryVent technology, has succumbed to wear and tear, particularly in areas of frequent textile bending. The waterproof layer seems to 'break,' a let down that left me wet and pondering the jacket's promise of keeping the elements at bay. It's a crucial point of contention because if there's one thing a weather-resistant jacket should consistently repel, it's the unrelenting nature of water. Aesthetic-wise, the jacket hasn't fared well against the test of time, since the colour has washed out significantly. While faded charm has its appeal, it's a far cry from the jacket's original luster. This discoloration raises questions about the longevity of the garment's other attributes, including its fundamental protective features. In summary, the Men's Quest Hooded Jacket was an invaluable companion in the face of harsh winds but has let me down during heavy rains.
